Glass recycling process and components of the installation

The glass recycling facility is an advanced system designed for the efficient and economical separation of laminated glass components such as car windshields and other types of safety or composite glass. This includes several technological steps that optimize the recycling process and reduce maintenance and wear costs. The main goal is to provide a simplified and cost-effective solution for separating the glass from the PVB (polyvinyl butyral) film from the laminated glass, such as car windshields. It can also be used for recycling other types of glass, including glass from ordinary solar panels or bottles.

Feeding the material

  • feeder: The system has a feeding hopper that allows a fast and efficient loading of the raw material. The material can be inserted into the installation either with a front loader or an excavator.
  • Pre-Schoker (Pre-Schredder): After feeding, the material passes through a precooker that initially fragments the laminated glass. This unit optimizes geometry to ensure efficient pre-shrinking with low maintenance costs.

PVB glass and foil separation

After pre-smothering, the material enters a specialized unit (PTG), which separates the glass from the PVB film without further damaging the foil. This is an essential step because PVB film can be reused in various industrial applications. The resulting glass is fragmented to Small size (up to 30 mm), and Foil remains intact for reuse.

Final cleaning and sorting

In the final stage, the foil fragments and shards of glass are separated by sieving and optical sorting methods. If the foil is not clean enough, it can be reintroduced into the process for additional washing.

Automation and operation

  • The system is fully automated, allowing efficient operation with a single operator controlling the process either from a front loader or from an excavator.
  • The degree of cleanliness of the final product can be adjusted according to the requirements.

Energy efficiency and low maintenance

  • The installation is fully electric, having a Total consumption below 250 kW, for a 40 ton/hour processing capacity, which makes it very energy efficient.
  • Its design minimizes maintenance intervals and wear of components due to avoiding the use of liquids or high machine rotations.
