The recycling of photovoltaic panels is of significant importance both from an ecological and economic perspective. The recycling of photovoltaic panels is an important step in the transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system. This not only protects the environment and preserves natural resources, but also brings significant economic benefits, helping to reduce costs and create jobs. In addition, it supports energy independence and social responsibility, making it an integral part of a circular and sustainable economy.

Solar panel life cycle: Solar panels have a lifespan of about 20-30 years, and once this term is reached, they become waste. Recycling allows reintegration of recovered materials into the production of new solar panels, contributing to a more sustainable life cycle and a circular economy. This process ensures efficient use of resources and reduces the negative impact on the environment.

Solar panels contain valuable and rare materials such as silicon, silver and aluminum. Through recycling, these materials can be recovered and reused, reducing the need to extract new natural resources and mitigating the negative impact on the environment.

The principle of operation of the recycling line Solar panels

Solar panels are introduced into the recycling line where they go through the following steps:

  • Removing the glass: The glass is removed by scraping from the surface of the solar panel by the high-speed rotation of the blade.
  • The crushing: Dismantled panels are shredded into small pieces of about 20 mm
  • Grinding: Small pieces are ground into fine powder with size below 0.85 mm
  • separation: Mixed metal and non-metal powder is separated in several stages using air and electrostatic separators.
  • Collection of materials: Valuable materials such as metal powder and silicon powder are collected to be reused.
